Bookies Bet on Burnley Return For Ings

Danny Ings might return to his former club, at least if betting markets know anything.

If betting markets mean anything in player transfers (though in all honesty, there’s rarely a strong correlation), Danny Ings will return to his former club Burnley for some first team action.

Yesterday Paul Joyce reported that Ings would be one of those culled from Liverpool’s ranks in a move that is probably good for both the 25-year-old striker, and Liverpool. Ings had consecutive year-ending knee injuries, one for each knee, and went 930 days between scoring senior goals for the club.

Bookies have placed Burnley at the top of the list for Ingsy’s return, leading as 3/1 favorites. Crystal Palace is 4/1 (unlucky Christian Benteke), followed by Newcastle (5/1) and West Ham (6/1). Of course these numbers are bound to move as actual transfer news emerges over the coming weeks.

All of that said, Burnley would seem like a good destination for Ings. Obviously he has a history with the club, having helped them earn promotion to the Premier League in 2013/14 by banging in an impressive 21 goals in the Championship.

Last season, only one Burnley player managed double-digit league goals, Chris Wood with 10, so this is clearly an area where Ings might help (assuming he can stay healthy and return to anywhere resembling his pre-injury form). Plus, with Europa League qualification a distinct possibility, Ings would be able to continue his European exploits.

Stay tuned for more info beyond who is throwing money around.
