Rumour Mongering: Dortmund and Liverpool Line up for Dani Olmo

AC Milan are also said to be in the running for the promising Dynamo Zagreb winger.

Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are the two most serious candidates to sign 20-year-old Croatian winger Dani Olmo from Dinamo Zagreb according to a handful of recent reports in the Croatian and Italian press, the latter of which believe AC Milan are also interested.

It’s a star-studded list of potential suitors for the young attacker, who was born in Terrassa, Spain, and spent his first years in the game with Espanyol’s youth set-up before moving to Barcelona’s La Masia academy—and who has represented Spain through the U18 level.

As a Spaniard making his way through the youth ranks at Barcelona and seeing playing time for the international youth teams, his move to Zagreb in 2015 caught many by surprise, but it has led to more regular playing time for the youngster and now rumours of a big move.

He has also been rumoured to have rejected an approach from Barcelona recently as they explored the possibility of bringing their one-time prospect back into the fold. It all adds up to a player who appears to be in very heavy demand—and with Liverpool a prime option.

However, the latest reports via Italy’s Calciomercato, suggest it is Dortmund who could beat Liverpool—and Milan—to the youngster as they seek an advantage in the chase by pushing up his acquisition from next summer to January.
