The Hungarian captain is ready to improve on Liverpool’s last season.

Liverpool kick off their US pre-season tour this week, signalling that it’s truly the countdown to the beginning of the first season under head coach Arne Slot. Dominik Szoboszlai is among the players who have filtered back into the team following participation in the European Championship.

The Hungarian captain has switched his focus back to his club, and on Wednesday, he spoke with the official site about his hopes for his season playing with Liverpool.

“It can always be better. Last year we finished third and won the Carabao Cup,” Szoboszlai said. “This year, [the] Champions League is back again – where we belong – and we want to show ourselves there as well. We are going for the Premier League again.

“I’m feeling very good, getting ready for the new season. Big games ahead of us, big season, new challenges, so I think everybody is getting ready.”

Regarding the new system under Slot, Szoboszlai admitted that’s different and described the training as “intense”.

“It’s a little bit different – the style of playing, how we play, how we are with the ball and also against the ball,” he said. “Everybody’s in from the training staff [and] we are getting to know them. I think everybody is happy with it and we are looking forward.

“It’s quite intense but we have a lot of things to do and we need to be intense in the season as well.”

The team is currently in the US preparing for their first friendly against Real Betis On Friday.
