The defender is expected to leave Juventus this summer.

Journalist Alfredo Pedulla reports that Bournemouth have joined the race for Dean Huijsen, the 6 foot 5/1.97m tall Under-21 Spanish international. The centre-back has been linked with Liverpool FC in the past week.

Huijsen returned to Juventus after his loan to Roma last January, where he made 14 appearances. Still, he is widely expected to be sold this summer to raise funds for potential incomings. Since joining Juventus from Malaga in 2021, Huijsen has spent most of his time playing for the club’s Under-17, Under-19 and reserve sides. He has made only one appearance for Juve’s first team, featuring as a substitute in a Serie A clash against AC Milan in October 2023.

Pedulla reports that Bournemouth’s new Director of Football Operations Tiago Pinto hopes to recruit Huijsen for the second time this year after signing him for Roma during his final transfer window as the Italian club’s sporting director. Paris Saint-Germain is also mentioned as one of his suitors, but they are currently focused on their pursuit of recruiting Napoli forward Victor Osimhen. Bundesliga teams Stuttgart and Wolfsburg appear to be the clubs presently leading the chase for Huijsen’s signature.

Bournemouth need a replacement at centre-back after Lloyd Kelly departed for Newcastle United on a free transfer this summer. The player is understood to be open to a move to England, but Juventus are seeking at least €25m (£21m) for Huijsen, who is under contract until the summer of 2028.

A promising young talent that’s been neglected, undervalued and being forced out for reasons beyond his control? That sounds like the kind of opportunistic deal Liverpool want to deal for. The towering defender’s love of driving forward with the ball, ability to play a myriad of short and long passes, and ability to pass with both feet would make him a sneaky, fun option to replace Joël Matip. We’ll see if this rumour develops further.
