Liverpool Loan Watch: Wilson and Grujic Score Winners

Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic both netted, but Divock Origi endured an embarrassing weekend in Germany.

 

Allan Rodrigues de Souza, Apollon Limassol

 Apollon continued their great recent form with a 2-1 win at Anorthosis on Sunday. Allan Souza was not involved in the squad.

Anderson Arroyo, RCD Mallorca

Anderson Arroyo made another start, helping Mallorca B cruise to a 3-0 win at Petra on Sunday.

Taiwo Awoniyi, Royal Excel Mouscron

 Suspension kept Taiwo Awoniyi out of action this weekend, as Mouscron lost 4-0 at AS Eupen to close out their regular season.

After finishing 14th, Mouscron progress to the Belgian Europa League playoff round.

 Pedro Chirivella, Willem II

 Pedro Chirivella became the latest young Reds loanee to cross the 2,000-minute threshold this season, after he played 90 minutes in Willem II’s stunning 5-0 victory over Eredivisie league leaders PSV.

After going into the break 1-0 up, the home side scored three goals in 17 minutes to overwhelm the Dutch heavyweights, and move five points clear of the Eredivisie’s relegation playoff spots.

 Ovie Ejaria, Sunderland

 Sunderland’s dismal form continued this weekend, as the Black Cats first lost 3-0 at home to promotion contenders Aston Villa, before falling 1-0 at Queens Park Rangers.

Ovie Ejaria started both games, playing the full match on both occasions.

 Andy Firth, Chester

 Andy Firth made his Chester debut on Tuesday, starting in goal as his side lost 2-0 to Dover Athletic. The ‘keeper then got an opportunity to start in the Cross-Border Derby on Saturday, as Chester travelled to take on Wrexham. They lost 2-0.

 Jon Flanagan, Bolton Wanderers

 Jon Flanagan made his first Bolton start on Tuesday, lining up at right back in his side’s 1-1 draw at Reading. Flanagan was booked late on, and played the full 90 minutes.

The Scouser got another start on Saturday, as Bolton drew 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday. Flanagan played 84 minutes before coming off for Aaron Wilbraham, who would score an injury time equalizer.

 Marko Grujic, Cardiff City

 Marko Grujic returned to the Cardiff first XI on Tuesday, and repaid the manager by netting his first senior goal in England, the match winner in Cardiff’s 2-1 win against Barnsley.

After picking the ball up outside the box, Grujic worked himself some space, before unleashing a smart effort which beat the ‘keeper at his near post.

He was booked after 14 minutes and removed after 56.

 Ryan Kent, Bristol City

 Bristol City endured a tough week, losing 2-1 at Preston North End on Tuesday before drawing 0-0 at Burton Albion at the weekend.

Ryan Kent started Tuesday’s game on the bench, coming on after 64 minutes. He was unused on Saturday.

Lazar Markovic, Anderlecht

 Anderlecht overcame two red cards to beat Antwerp 2-1 on Sunday. Lazar Markovic was not involved in the squad.

 Anderlecht finished the regular season in second, 12 points behind Club Brugge, and will progress to the championship playoff round.

 Sheyi Ojo, Fulham

Sheyi Ojo returned to the Fulham first XI on Tuesday, making his first start since January as Fulham hosted Sheffield United. The Cottagers would win 3-0, with Ojo removed after 59 minutes.

The winger was back on the bench at the weekend, for Fulham’s trip to Preston North End. The visitors secured a dramatic 2-1 win, with Ojo coming on after 83 minutes for his 20th league appearance of the season.

 Divock Origi, VfL Wolfsburg

 Divock Origi endured a wretched weekend, as he was removed before half time in Wolfsburg’s 3-0 drubbing at Hoffenheim.

 Connor Randall, Hearts

 Hearts also suffered a tough weekend, as they lost the Edinburgh Derby at Hibernian on Friday, 2-0. Connor Randall played 90 minutes.

 Daniel Sturridge, West Bromwich Albion

 Daniel Sturridge remained out injured, as West Brom edged closer to relegation after a 4-1 home defeat to Leicester.

 Matty Virtue, Notts County

Notts County battled to a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham Town on Tuesday. Matty Virtue was an unused substitute.

The midfielder returned to action on Saturday, coming off the bench after 71 minutes in Fulham’s 2-1 win at Forest Green.

Corey Whelan, Yeovil Town

 Yeovil Town were back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Trophy semifinal. Corey Whelan maintained his place in the first XI, playing the full 90 minutes as Yeovil crashed out of the competition through a 1-0 defeat.

Whelan made his 10th appearance of the season on Saturday, starting in his side’s 2-0 home defeat to Newport County. He played 90 minutes.

 Harry Wilson, Hull City

Harry Wilson completed a quick return from injury on Tuesday, as he named on the Hull City bench for the clash against Millwall. Wilson came on after 59 minutes, and earned an assist on Hull’s only goal, but could not save his side from stuttering to a 2-1 home defeat.

Wilson then put in a Man of the Match performance on Saturday, netting the winner and adding an assist as Hull won a wild game against Norwich, 4-3.

Hull were 3-1 down after 40 minutes, but battled back, allowing Wilson to score the winning goal after 71 minutes. The goal was well taken, with the winger ghosting past his defender in the box before planting a composed finish to the far post.
