Danny Ings officially a Saint

Danny Ings has completed a £20million move to Southampton from Liverpool, initially on a season-long loan, which includes an agreement on an additional three years permanently.

Ings’ move to Southampton is somewhat more complicated than the majority of the transfers completed these days. According to The Telegraph, the Saints will buy Ings on July 1, 2019.

Liverpool will receive £18million, and then a further £2 million based on appearances. Both clubs claim Ings has left Merseyside on a loan deal, which he technically has, but he has signed a four-year deal at the Saints until 2022.

The Reds will also receive 20 per cent of any future sale of Ings. The Englishman has said goodbye to Liverpool via social media, and he showed his class as he always does.

“I want to thank everybody at Liverpool FC for welcoming me into the family and being there for me through the tough and the good times. I wish you all the success in the future and I’ll miss you all. YNWA,” he posted.

The Englishman scored a total of four goals in his 25 appearances for Liverpool, but severe injuries never allowed him to reach his potential at Anfield.
