Mark Lawrenson fears for Jordan Henderson

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has concerns regarding Jordan Henderson’s place in Jurgen Klopp’s XI for the 2017-18 campaign and beyond.

Henderson did not start either of Liverpool’s first two Premier League games against West Ham United or Crystal Palace, but he did return back on Merseyside late after England had a successful World Cup, which limited his pre-season.

Klopp has added Naby Keita and Fabinho to the squad to strengthen Liverpool’s options in midfield, and with that being the case, Lawrenson has doubts whether the Englishman is in the best XI anymore, despite being a crucial member in Liverpool’s run into the Champions League final last season.

“He is vulnerable,” Lawrenson told Irish radio station Newstalk.

“He knows he might not be in the team. He is a good lad. He is under pressure. The manager likes him.”
