Origi’s failed Dortmund move could see Solanke loaned out
The collapse in negotiations between Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of Divock Origi could see the club reassess the immediate future of Dominic Solanke, according to James Pearce of the Echo.
Dortmund were keen on signing Origi, who spent last season in the Bundesliga at Wolfsburg, on a season-long loan but Liverpool’s preference was to negotiate a permanent deal.
It had been suggested that the clubs could compromise by including a later option to buy Origi for a fee in the region of £25million, but no agreement could be reached and the deal is now off.
Liverpool are finding it increasingly difficult to offload the out-of-favour Belgian, who, according to Pearce, turned down a move to Wolves earlier in the summer after a fee of £22million plus add-ons had been agreed.
The report states that Origi will stay at Anfield and provide back-up to Roberto Firmino if no suitable bid is received before transfer windows around Europe slam shut at the end of the month.

Pearce believes that Klopp might now be tempted to loan out Dominic Solanke, having decided earlier in the window that he would not sanction a temporary move.
With prospects of decent game-time limited following Daniel Sturridge’s revival, Klopp may fear that the development of youngster Solanke could stall at Anfield.
A favourable offer could convince Liverpool to let the Englishman ply his trade elsewhere this season.
A change in the Reds’ stance could alert Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, who have been linked with Solanke throughout the summer.
Elsewhere, Pearce has revealed that the club are still confident Lazar Markovic will seal a move away in the next seven days.
Markovic has been loaned out to four different clubs since joining Liverpool in 2014.
Olympiacos are among the clubs reportedly interested in the Serb.

If no move materialises, Markovic might well be released next summer.
