Mohamed Salah told to be “completely relaxed” by Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has once again played down suggestions of concern around Mohamed Salah’s form, insisting that his star forward simply needs to “relax” and enjoy his football again.

The manager has conceded, however, that Salah is suffering from low confidence at present.

Klopp has reportedly told Salah to “be relaxed, completely relaxed, because there is no need for anything else.”

“The quality is there and so everything is fine. There’s nothing that I can tell you here because that’s between us like always.

“But it was absolutely clear that we would stand in a situation like this here and talk about it.

“Even Harry Kane, he scored two goals last week, but before that people were saying ‘he’s not even half the Harry Kane of last year’.

“For us, it is completely cool. If the player is not happy with it – that is clear. If you have a chance, you want to score.

“Even if Mo had scored 30 already, he would want 31, so that is disappointing for a player, but that’s all. There is no difference.

“It is completely normal, all good, as long as we perform like we have, everything will be fine.”

Salah and Liverpool take on Napoli tonight in the Champions League in their second Group C fixture, and will hope for a positive result to maintain momentum prior to the Premier League clash with Manchester City at the weekend.
