Club record that could be set if Liverpool avoid defeat this weekend

Liverpool will set a new Premier League club record unbeaten streak if they avoid defeat to Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are currently on a run of  17 games without a loss, matching that of Rafa Benitez’s side in 2008.

The current run includes every league game so far this season, as well as the final game of the 2017/18 season.

Liverpool head into the game against United with some injury concerns, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip all ruled out.

The Reds also failed to pick up a Premier League win over the Red Devils since 2014, when Steven Gerrard converted two penalties at Old Trafford before Luis Suarez grabbed the final goal of the game in a 3-0 win on the road.

That won’t be on the mind of the players, however, as they prepare for a monster tie at Anfield that will see them go top of the league once again should they pick up three points.

Jurgen Klopp’s men also remain the only unbeaten side in England’s top four divisions, and will go nineteen points clear of Jose Mourinho’s side with a win.
