Jurgen Klopp provides injury updates ahead of Manchester United clash

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the clash against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

The right-back suffered a foot injury in the midweek Champions League victory over Napoli, meaning Liverpool are a little short defensively at this current moment.

He will join Joel Matip and Joe Gomez on the sidelines, meaning James Milner and Dejan Lovren could appear against United on the weekend in the defence.

Despite injuries to some key defenders, Klopp is refusing to buy into the fact he faces some sort of crisis.

“It’s our situation. Crisis is only a crisis if you feel it,” said Klopp.

“Trent is not as serious as the other two boys [Matip and Gomez], but it’s not top class news! It was unlucky as well, like with Joel. It was in the last seconds of the game.”

Both Nathaniel Clyne and Rafa Camacho could play right-back against United in Alexander-Arnold’s absence, although it is more likely to be Milner.

“Clyne is a very experienced player – it’s not ideal and we won’t rush him,” said Klopp.

“Rafa Camacho played outstandingly in pre-season and Curtis Jones too.

“We have other options and as long as we have options everything is fine. We have to be creative if not but all fine for the moment.”

Lovren appears to be the only option to feature alongside Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the defence with both Gomez and Matip out.
