Roy Keane: Liverpool could have won by 4 or 5 against Manchester United

Speaking while working as a pundit for Sky Sports, Roy Keane said his former side could have lost against Liverpool by four or five goals as they wound up losing 3-1 to a rampant Reds team.

When Sadio Mane scored a fantastic goal in the first half, it looked as though the Reds would make the most of their early-game momentum to give Manchester United a hiding.

However, a horrific goalkeeping error from Alisson gave the visiting side a foothold in the game and it wasn’t until Xherdan Shaqiri was introduced late in the second half before Liverpool doubled and tripled their lead.

Keane said: “In the last 20 minutes they (Liverpool) just wore them down and towards the end you’re thinking could it be 4 or 5? But United were just, kinda, never at the races really.

“And it just reflects where they are. We spoke early about Liverpool, dominated every aspect of the game. The possession, obviously the goals, the shots, the corners.

“That was my big worry before the game. I looked at United and I thought ‘are they gonna be really found out today?’ and they were. And it’s a huge concern for United going forward.”
