Klopp Gives Updates on Keita and Lallana

Klopp talks about Liverpool’s lesser-used midfield stars and what the rest of the season could look like for them.

It’s the day of the FA Cup and Klopp is making full use of a deep Liverpool squad (a deep Liverpool squad!!!) to give some of the players we haven’t seen as much this season much-needed minutes. Klopp is hoping that both Lallana and Keita will get a chance to make their mark in today’s game against Wolves.

“Everybody saw how brilliant he played in the first part [of the season],” Klopp told the club’s official website about Naby Keita’s season so far. “There was no reason [for him not playing recently], just because other boys were in good shape as well. It was a bit about positioning, a bit about system and all that stuff. That’s how football decisions are. There is really, really no doubt about the boy, he is an outstanding player.”

Keita has made a decent impact in the games he’s played so far, including an excellent showing against Tottenham in September. According to the boss, there are no issues with his performance, but the 23-year-old is still adapting to life in the Premier League and at Anfield.

Klopp was equally positive about Adam Lallana’s role in the club, especially as the England international will likely not be looking for a loan away from the club this January.

“Adam is a player who always wants to play,” Klopp said about Lallana. “He would play four games a day if possible just from his desire to play football. He is really, I would say in the moment, in the best moment since I know him, just like as a person he is fantastic. He will have a big part of our season I am really sure and that’s cool. But in training everything is good, when he came on everything was good so far, so now he is ready to take these little steps.”

The fact that Klopp and Liverpool are spoiled for choice with their midfield options is a testament to excellent work in the previous few transfer markets. Hopefully both Lallana and Keita will get their chance in the next few games.
