Manchester United set for huge double injury boost for Liverpool clash

Manchester United could have Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard back fit to face Liverpool this weekend.

The duo was initially reported as being out for several weeks but this week they returned to training as it was discovered the injuries weren’t as serious as initially believed.

Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer could have Martial and Lingard in his starting lineup to face the Reds at Old Trafford which is a huge boost for the caretaker United boss.

Manchester United correspondent for the Manchester Evening News Samuel Luckhurst wrote on Twitter this morning: “Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard could return for #mufc vs Liverpool.”

Liverpool themselves will be bolstered by the return of Virgil van Dijk in central defence which will, in turn, allow Fabinho to move back into central midfield.

The Brazilian was one of the key performers earlier this season when United lost 3-1 to Liverpool at Anfield.
