Loris Karius taking legal action against loan club Besiktas

Loris Karius is set to take legal action against loan club Besiktas, according to The Mirror.

Karius is currently in the first year of a two-year loan deal with the Turkish club but has so far endured a torrid time.

The 25-year-old stopped has consistently made errors that resulted in soft goals being conceded for his side, and was openly criticised for the first time by his manager Senol Gunes within the last week.

It has now been revealed, however, that Karius filed a complaint with FIFA in February in regard to Besiktas owing him four months wages, which the goalkeeper has not been paid.

Karius demanded that his salary be paid within 10 days but the deadline has now elapsed without resolution and FIFA will now step in to proceedings, meaning Besiktas could be set for a hefty punishment.

Gunes’ comments after the latest errors from the German goalkeeper will only have added fuel to the fire in what could become a bitter disagreement between player and club.

“He was at fault for the goals he conceded,” Gunes said. “Karius has gone a bit stagnant, something is wrong with his electricity, motivation, enthusiasm for the game.

“It has been like that since the beginning. He does not really feel a part of the team, it’s something we haven’t been able to work out and, of course, I am partly to blame for this.

“Something is wrong, he has also been unlucky. [He] is talented but it hasn’t worked out and we have a problem. Let me put it this way, if I still had Tolga available I would play him.”
