“All a bit questionable, we don’t know exactly in the moment. We will have to see today,” Klopp said.

“We gave them all a proper rest. Dejan trained yesterday so that’s OK probably and the other two we will see.”

Fabinho sustained a head injury against Cardiff, while Lallana has been sidelined for several weeks with a muscle issue. On Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s progress towards full fitness, Klopp added: “Ox trained, all good.”

The boss also spoke about the recovery time required between matches: “We had enough time to recover after the last game, we have enough time to recover for the next game. Barcelona has nothing to do with the game on Friday night.”

Huddersfield manager Jan Siewert had kind words for Klopp as he prepares his team to face title-chasing Liverpool.

“Obviously Jürgen is a fantastic manager and one of the best in the world. Although I’ve never met him, he’s a great guy and everybody realises what he’s doing with Liverpool,” Siewert said.

“Of course we had a look at what he did and the way he influenced the German way of playing and at Dortmund. It was for me a big part of my coaching career.”
