Van Dijk and Mané Make PFA Players’ Player of the Year Shortlist

Both players have been integral to Liverpool’s stellar season.

The time for end of the season accolades is upon us, and it will be no surprise when several of Liverpool’s players find themselves nominated for these coveted prizes.

The shortlist for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award has been revealed, and two Liverpool players find themselves among the contenders to take home the trophy. Virgil van Dijk, who has helped the Reds’ defense become the best in the league and the best that a Liverpool team has seen in over a decade, is the the first player nominated. The other is Sadio Mané, who is in the middle of his best season in a Liverpool shirt — which is saying something. He has so far scored 22 goals in all competitions and has been far and away Liverpool’s most consistent forward player this season.

The other Premier League players on the list are Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and former Red Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, as well as Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

Whoever does take home the award this season will dethrone Liverpool player Mohamed Salah, who virtually swept the end of the season award circuit last year like an Egyptian Meryl Steep.

The ceremony with be on April 28th at Grosvenor House in London. It is voted on by players from all 92 Premier League and Football League teams.
