“Brendan Owes Me One” Says Andy Robertson

The Celtic fan in Andy Robertson is pretty anxious for Brendan to do a job, and the Liverpool player... well, wants the title.

No one has to tell you that things are a bit tense at Liverpool right now. Saturday’s last minute win against Newcastle aside, we now have to tangle once again with Barcelona on this coming Tuesday night. All thoughts are going to be on Tuesday night, surely, but it’ll be hard to ignore the last chance for Manchester City to drop points on Monday night against Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City. It’s actually not silly to put some hope into the Foxes this time, who are experiencing a decent resurgence due to the new manager kick, with 4 wins out of their last 6 matches including toppling Arsenal with some confidence.

Actually watching the match, though, seems to be a doubt for Scottish left-back Andy Robertson. Robbo stayed late into the night at St. James’ Park on Saturday doing interviews and spending time with fans and spoke a bit as well about City’s upcoming match and how they’ve kept the pressure up on their other blue rivals.

“I don’t know (if I will watch it),” said Robertson. “I’ve not shied away from the other ones, it’s not worked, so maybe I’ll try something different!

”Look, if I watch it or don’t watch it, it’s not going to make a difference. I’m a Celtic fan, Brendan’s left us so he maybe owes me one!”

The hardest part of this whole thing is probably knowing that now our title hopes hinge on probably the best team the Premier League has ever seen dropping points against Leicester on a Monday night. Those hopes aren’t high, but you’ve gotta have them, even if it’s the hope that kills you in the end.

”Leicester City are a good team but Manchester City are unbelievable, they’ve had eight days to recover from a heavy schedule, so we are expecting City to get off to a good start so hopefully Leicester can hold on,” continued Robbo.

“We won’t expect anything but all we can do is take it down to the last game. We’ve done that so we’ll look forward to next Sunday.”

Never let it be said that this team doesn’t have hope, courage, and that never say die attitude that’s needed to get this far in this competitive of a league. Including players that have somewhat lost their starting positions like game winner scoring Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge, everyone has something to contribute to this incredible season that will hopefully see us bring in a trophy for the first time in a few years.

“Studge, my word, what a shift he put in, especially the last 10 minutes. He’s not really played. Div comes off the bench and scores, Shaq with the assist. His corner just before it was unbelievable and the free-kick was just on the money,” added the Scot.

”The subs make a difference and we are always ready to get on the pitch and make a difference.

”The lads who have been left at home and lads who are on the bench and haven’t come on, they are buzzing for us and there’s no egos in this squad and that’s why we are where we are today and long may it continue.

”If we do fall short this season we will be back next season and we just need to keep going and keep going, and hopefully get what this club deserves.”

It’ll be hard not to be disappointed that this incredible season has come to nothing, if that’s indeed what happens, but if Andy Robertson is okay with that knowledge, we can be too.
