Italian side change stance on Liverpool defender

AC Milan have turned their attentions away from Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren, according to reports today.

Gianluca DiMarzio reported earlier this week that the Serie A side had identified the Croatian as the ideal candidate to shore up their defence ahead of next season.

Milan were tipped to make a £25million bid in line with Liverpool’s valuation of the player, with Lovren said to be interested in making the move.

However, Calciomercato correspondent Fabrizio Romano says the Italian side have cooled their interest in the 29-year-old and have instead turned their attention to Ozan Kabak of Stuttgart.

19-year-old Kabak was relegated with Stuttgart last season but Milan feel he represents a more affordable option than Lovren, with a €15million release clause in his contact.

Lovren is now the fourth-choice centre-back at Anfield and is likely to remain in that position next season unless something changes for him at the club.
