Jürgen Klopp: Liverpool’s Adrián can “Catch Balls”

The Liverpool manager hands out some praise for his No. 2 goalkeeper.
Jürgen Klopp confirmed Alisson’s continued absence from the Liverpool squad despite walking around happily while accepting a prestigious award in Monaco on Thursday. The Brazilian’s calf is still healing and Adrián will be called into action again this weekend at Burnley.
The manager praised Adrián in his pre-Burnley press conference, beginning with saying, “Thank god, and hopefully it stays like this, we have a fit, Adrian.”
Aside from a couple of blunders, Adrián has been a solid stand-in while Alisson recovers. The Spaniard has made several key saves for the team during his short time in goal and his understanding with the back line in front of him is getting sharper.
“So far, I'm really happy with everything i saw,” said Klopp.
“He’s a good guy which is important but most important is that he can catch balls. And that’s good, as well.
“The solution we found for it is really good. Of course, it would be better if Ali could be around but that will take some time.”
A timeline has not been set for Alisson’s return but the hope must be that he gets first-team fit by the end of the international break. That would mark Burnley has the end of a good run of games for Adrián in his brief time on Merseyside.
The Spaniard could be called on throughout the season, particularly if the club progress in the domestic competitions. Now the outfield players will have built up a familiarity with Adrián on the pitch that will be a boon for the team when he’s called into action again. I guess Alisson’s injury has been a blessing all along.
