Jürgen Klopp gives updates on the injury status of Keita, Alisson and Divock Origi.

The injuries began promptly for Liverpool this season. Alisson went down during the first half of the first match against Norwich City. Divock Origi left the pitch against Newcastle with an ankle injury. And Naby Keita hasn’t been right for any of it.

Keita is yet to get into any sort of rhythm in Jürgen Klopp’s team. The Guinean’s performances have been good but he’s been unavailable due to injury for large portions of his Liverpool career so far.

With his most recent recovery period, the club have taken a long approach. The season goes on forever and the short term gains of rushing a player back from injury are being passed over by the manager.

Now there’s good news for Keita. Klopp had positive things to say on the recovery of all three of his currently crocked players.

“Naby Keita is back in training with the team,” said Klopp. “Today is his first time with the team.”

That’s a big step up for Keita. If he’s in full training, he’s competing for a place in the team. Don’t expect him to get onto the pitch at Stamford Bridge or anything but expect him sometime soon.

“Ali is making big progress,” Klopp added. “He had a proper session yesterday with John Achterberg. But is not in team training yet.

“Div, we have to see day by day. That’s how it was from the first day, how can he deal with the pain and stuff like that.

“We will see. It’s pretty early today. I don’t know exactly what the medical department will tell me.”

Allison isn’t being rushed back from his calf injury either. The Brazilian is the best goalkeeper but with Adrián in good form, Liverpool can afford to let Alisson fully heal before reinstating him in goal.

The manager suggested that Origi wasn’t far off from being included in his plans, but Klopp added that the Belgian forward was “unlikely” to feature against Chelsea on Sunday.
