Steven Gerrard to Captain Liverpool Legends Against Rangers

An October charity match is set for Ibrox with Gerrard captaining against the club he currently manages.
There is perhaps nothing more annoying for a club football fan in the autumn than the incessant international breaks, with September, October, and November all victim to two-week gaps without any Liverpool football—and with the added risk of injuries suffered while on international duty.
While it won’t do anything to help worries about the latter, the former at least might be sorted for October with word today that the Liverpool Legends will head north of the border to take on Rangers at Ibrox on October 12th, with Steven Gerrard captaining the Reds against the club he currently manages.
Along with Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Luis Garcia, Patrik Berger, and Jason McAteer are all confirmed for the Reds, while Rangers will be captained by Richard Gough. Proceeds from the match will go to the LFC Foundation and Rangers Charity Foundation, with tickets just £15 for adults and £5 for kids.
“I’m delighted to be playing at Ibrox next month,” McAteer told the club’s official website as part of the announcement of October’s charity game. “There are some fantastic legends in the mix so it’s set to be a competitive and entertaining game for the fans.”
