Aymeric Laporte posts injury update on Twitter

Aymeric Laporte.

The Frenchman had surgery on a knee injury in September and has revealed that he has one day left “to come back.”

Laporte is the second-best central defender in the Premier League after Virgil van Dijk and it’s not surprising that Manchester City have struggled defensively without his ability at the back.

The Manchester Evening News reported on Friday that his expected return date is February 2020 after he damaged cartilage and his lateral meniscus so it seems unlikely he will be back in action any time soon.

Pep Guardiola’s City have a history of rushing players back from injury with Kevin De Bruyne rushed back from a serious knee injury in the past.

It’s likely that Laporte saying he has “one day to come back” means until his rehabilitation starts as he will have been off his feet for awhile after having surgery.

Hopefully, for his sake he isn’t being rushed back as that could be even worse than waiting another four or five months to return to action.
