Mohamed Salah is More Annoyed Than Injured, Says Jürgen Klopp

The Liverpool manager expects Salah to be fit and ready for Aston Villa on Saturday despite fears of an ankle injury.
There’s been some worry that Mohamed Salah had missed training due to issues with the ankle problem he’s been dealing with. The Egyptian forward missed the draw with Manchester United but appeared to be back to full fitness against Tottenham Hotspur. Salah was eventually substituted for Joe Gomez for a more defensively minded strategy at the end of the match, but there was evidence that the ankle was at least an aggravation for the him.
Jürgen Klopp didn’t seem fussed about Mo’s availability to play at Aston Villa on Saturday. The manager described Salah’s ankle issue as more of annoyance than an actual injury. And the reason Salah has missed parts of training is because periodically he goes off somewhere to get his ankle juice drained.
“He should be fine,” said Klopp. “He has had to do his individual stuff but he will be in training today (Friday).
“I think it is really more annoying for him, not me, that the injury is a bit of fluid and he has to deal with it. He gets it out and then has to come back out to the team. It is not a ‘real’ injury like this but he should be fine.”
Dr. Klopp has spoken. It’s not a real injury. No need to worry about more joint problems in the squad.
It sounds like Salah makes the starting XI, then, alongside Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané. Now, we wait on Naby Keita’s recovery progress to see what Klopp has working for his midfield. Maybe Keita’s injury isn’t real either. That would be great. Maybe somebody should double check Joël Matip.
