Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gives his verdict on the title

Reds midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has stated that the Liverpool squad are focused on claiming the Premier League title, rather than breaking records.
Liverpool defeated West Ham United 2-0 in the Premier League at the Olympic Stadium last night thanks to Mohamed Salah and Oxlade-Chamberlain, as they both scored goals.
The victory ensured the Reds a 19-point lead at the top of the table, which means the club only need eight more victories to ensure a maiden Premier League title.
Liverpool have accumulated 70 points after 24 matches, which ultimately means there are a number of records Jurgen Klopp’s side could break come the end of the season.
However, Oxlade-Chamberlain has stated that the Reds are simply playing to win the Premier League, rather than break records.
“That’s obviously nice but I think teams never get to those sorts of positions and have those accolades and records by thinking about those things,” Oxlade-Chamberlain told Liverpoolfc.com.
“They just go into every game, go to work and do the business. You keep that mentality, you give yourself the best chance of coming away with wins.

“There are a lot of tough games coming up so we’ve just to keep plodding along and keep doing what we are doing to first and foremost achieve what we want to do in the league. That’s the most important thing – finishing as high up as we can – and we are in a good position.
“We want to keep that going and if records come off the back of that then that’s obviously a little bonus, but you can’t really think about those things, I don’t think.”
This is the attitude that is needed by the entire Liverpool squad. Records are great to break, but the reality is, Liverpool have not won a league title in 30 years.
The only objective Klopp’s squad should have is to break that particular drought.
