Bundesliga striker outlines why he watches Liverpool ahead of German football

Freiburg striker Nils Petersen has stated that he watches Liverpool ahead of the Bundesliga.

Petersen has played in the Bundesliga for all but one of the last nine seasons, which ultimately means it is very much his home.

Petersen also enjoys watching the Bundesliga when he is relaxing at home. However, if Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are playing, he will tune into their games instead of a German football match.

“I actually prefer to watch German football, but if Liverpool play I prefer to watch it”, Petersen told Kicker, as quoted by Inside Futbol.

“When I see the hunger with which the players play, even though they already have a big lead in the league, I have the greatest respect.

“When I look at the top opponents in England, not losing a game in a year is absolutely world class. That is why Jurgen Klopp was rightly named coach of the year.”

Petersen is not one of the big guns running around in the Bundesliga, however, his comments show just how big Liverpool currently are. His comments also outline just how good Liverpool are to watch at the moment.

With the Reds claiming the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in the past six months, there is no denying that they are the best team in world football right now. It is not difficult to see why Petersen likes to tune into games that involve Liverpool.

Liverpool have the opportunity to add the Premier League title to the aforementioned list, as they are 13 points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Liverpool’s next assignment in the Premier League is away at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
