Jurgen Klopp accused of lacking respect by Monterrey boss
Monterrey boss Antonio Mohamed has accused Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp of lacking respect.
The Reds faced Monterrey in the semi-final stage of the FIFA Club World Cup back in December of last year.
Liverpool were 2-1 victors come the end of the clash in Qatar, but the match did have one moment which has stuck with Mohamed.
After Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez had handled the ball, the Monterrey boss suggested to the referee that the Englishman should be sent off, as it would have been Gomez’s second caution.
Klopp reacted to Mohamed’s suggestion on the touchline that night, which the Monterrey boss was clearly not too impressed with. Klopp and Mohamed both received yellow cards for the confrontation.
“Klopp disrespected me, I felt he tried to trash me,” Mohamed said in an interview with Enganche, as quoted by Marca.

“He kept asking for a yellow card saying that we were fouling Salah, but when I did the same towards one of their players, he stuck out his tongue and made fun of me.
“When I saw him, I laughed at first and then I got a little angry and rose to his bait, then my background came out and I lost all elegance and composure.”
For Mohamed to claim that Klopp disrespected him is taking things a bit too far. He is arguably one of the most respectful managers in the game.
Mohamed should understand that if you suggest to the referee that an opposition player should be sent off, there is going to be a reaction by the opposition manager.
Perhaps Klopp did suggest a player should have been booked for a challenge on Mohamed Salah throughout the semi-final, but Klopp did it in a fashion that was respectful. Mohamed completely lost his composure when it came to the Gomez handball.
