Former Red backs Roberto Firmino to break one particular record
Former Red Lucas Leiva has backed Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino to break his games record at the club.
Firmino, who signed for Liverpool from Hoffenheim for a fee of £29 million back in 2015, has been sensational for the Reds.
The Brazilian has arguably become Jurgen Klopp’s most important player on the pitch, and with that being the case, he has accumulated 162 English top-flight appearances for the Reds.
Lucas, who racked up 247 league matches for Liverpool, has backed Firmino to surpass his games record at the club.
“Firmino will pass [my games record] easily, as he is playing over 50 games a year,” Lucas told DAZN, as quoted by Goal .
“I’m happy with that as he is an incredible guy.”

Lucas does make a fair point in regards to the amount of games Firmino is consistently playing per season.
Lucas’ appearance numbers are the most for a Brazilian player at the Reds, meaning Firmino would break a very solid record.
One does get the feeling that Firmino will spend the rest of his career at Anfield. He is adored by the Liverpool supporters, and he knows it.
A move away from the club would be a downgrade for the Brazilian on so many levels. Firmino, 28, only seems to get better as each season passes.
