Manchester United legend reveals what scares him in regards to Liverpool

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has stated that Liverpool are about to enter a period of sustained dominance.

In the past seven months, Jurgen Klopp’s side have won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Premier League title could very well be added to the aforementioned list of achievements, as Liverpool currently possess a 22-point lead at the top of the table.

Klopp’s side have only dropped points in one Premier League fixture this season, which was the 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford back in October 2019.

Ferdinand believes that this is only the beginning for Liverpool in terms of success, and that scares him.

“You have to respect it, I think Liverpool have done a tremendous job,” Ferdinand said, as quoted by Metro.

“In the last two years the amount of points they have accumulated has been phenomenal.

“I think that is the scary part for everyone else is that Liverpool, this isn’t about today, they’re going to be in this for the long haul.

“They look like a team that is being built for the long-term. I think others team, other owners, can take a lead off of what Liverpool have done.

“They’ve invested in their manager [Klopp], they’ve invested in his ideas. He’s been allowed to implement them over time.

“He didn’t have success immediately, but you’re seeing it bear fruit four or five years on now from the beginnings of that. He was given time and the resources and now the trophies are coming.”

There are plenty of cases where teams have success and then instantly drop off. However, one does not get that feeling with this Liverpool team.

Their consistency is so great that it only makes sense that they will continue to challenge for the major honours in the game over the next few years.
