Back in Action at Melwood on Saturday?
After heartwarming farewells to the old training ground, Melwood gets a last hurrah.
While the Reds training ground has been seen off in style with video content and testimony from former greats, the Liverpool U18s get the special honor of playing at the venue.
The youth side will face Leeds United at 12 PM GMT/7 AM EST
While the choice comes from pragmatic rather than romantic causes — the U23s and the U16s will be in action at Kirkby — it will nonetheless be a special moment for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s side.
Speaking with anticipation, Bridge-Wilkinson told Liverpoolfc.com that the staff and the squad were filled with excitement to play at the now-former ground.
“Melwood is such an iconic place in Liverpool’s history and it really is special for the Academy to get this opportunity.”
Unfortunately fans won’t have an easy way to get a look in at the iconic former training ground, as LFCTV will be playing the U23 side’s match against Southampton FC. Highlights of the U18s match against Leeds will be available for LFCTV subscribers after full time.
