Eight Liverpool Players Nominated for FIFA Team of the Season

Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Andy Robertson join Liverpool’s The Best nominees on the shortlist.

Following last week’s news that Liverpool had earned six nominations for FIFA’s The Best awards, today brings with it news of more FIFA accolades for Jürgen Klopp’s defending Premier League champion Reds.

Last week saw Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Thiago Alcantara nominated for the top outfield player prize; Alisson Becker nominated in the the goalkeeper category; and Jürgen Klopp in the manager category.

This week, Liverpool have a total of eight players in the running for FIFA’s 2020 Team of the year, including all five The Best player nominees along with three more outfield stars: Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Andy Robertson.

Liverpool’s eight are joined by Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling from Manchesrer City, new Chelsea signings Kai Havertz and Thiago Silva, Tottenham’s Harry Kane, and Man United’s Bruno Fernandes as the 14 Premier League representatives.

In total, there are 50 nominees for FIFA’s Team of the Season, and as with The Best awards, the Team of the Season will now be decided in the coming weeks based on voting by the media, an expert panel, and fans.
