A heavily rotated Liverpool side will mean a chance for Midtjylland to earn a famous victory in Europe.

Liverpool’s upcoming opponents FC Midtjylland picked up their first Champions League points last week against Atalanta and acquitted themselves well in a loss to the Reds at Anfield in October.

Now the Danish Superliga leaders play their final group stage game Liverpool with no real pressure or expectations and the chance to earn a famous victory against Jürgen Klopp’s world champions.

“We are all looking forward to the last match in this year’s Champions League,” Midtjylland boss Brian Priske said at today’s pre-match press conference. “We will do everything to deliver a great result.

“Actually we expect a lot from ourselves after last week’s experience against Atalanta. We do not know 100% who Liverpool will line up with tomorrow, but to start with our focus will be on ourselves.”

A win wouldn’t get Midtjylland, fourth in the group, into the Europa League, but it would certainly be a point of pride, a boost for the players and fans, and a result to help push them on domestically.

For Liverpool, meanwhile, manager Jürgen Klopp insists his side want a win but with a chance for the Reds rest star players their opponents won’t get a better chance at this kind of a headlining victory.

“All our energy and strength is directed towards Liverpool tomorrow and the attempt to get three more points,” Priske added. “We had a good match the last time we met Liverpool and gained experience.

“If everyone works as one and does the things we are good at, we are hard to play against, and then we have good opportunities to take points against even the best.”
