Gallery: Van Dijk and Other Teammates Photographed in Indoor Training and Recovery
While no timeline has been put on the Dutchman’s recovery, it’s good to see him at work in the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby alongside other Reds returning to fitness.
Less than two months after being injured in a collision with Everton’s Jordan Pickford on October 17th, Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk returns to light duties as he begins his rehab journey.
The surgery to repair his cruciate ligament injury was successful, and his photographed rehab work is encouraging — while there is no timeline placed on his return, it’s good to see him working with the team again.
The club have released photos to let fans see the Dutchman back in the gym for themselves.
Van Dijk’s photographed session are supplemented by his own social media posts documenting his journey back to match fitness. On his instagram he posted a photo of himself in Kirkby captioned “working harder than ever..”
Of course, Van Dijk is not the only returning face available in the training images. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, himself having a frustrating run of luck with injuries, was photographed enjoying himself while at work as well. (He was photographed doing serious rehab work as well as having a bit of fun.) Reds will be pleased with his return to fitness as the midfield becomes increasingly stretched.
Alongside Ox, James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri were seen at work inside, as photos look to suggest a number of players might have a return in sight, even if they’re not yet on the (training) pitch.
