Liverpool Internationals: Virgil van Dijk Scores in Winning Day For Reds’ Players
The four games that featured Reds’ players ended in victory.
It was all smiles for Liverpool players who represented their countries on Monday. Four games played out around the world, and not a single goal was conceded by a team that contained a Liverpool player. Coincidence?
...Probably, but it was still nice to see.
The big winners of the day were Netherlands. They won 6-0 against poor Gibraltor in UEFA World Cup qualifying. Everyone got in on the action, including captain Virgil van Dijk, who opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a header off of a corner served up by Memphis Depay, who himself scored a hat trick. The Dutch currently six atop group G after eight games.
In Africa, Mohamed Salah and Egypt won their World Cup qualifier against Libya 3-0, keeping them in the top spot in group F.
Curtis Jones was a substitute in 57th minute when the England U21s took on Andorra in U21 European Cup qualifying. Liverpool’s up and coming star set up the one and only goal of the game not long after he stepped onto the pitch. England sit in third place in group G after three group games.
Finally, the last Liverpool player who represented their country on Monday was Neco Williams who was an unused substitute when the Welsh beat Estonia. That puts them in third place in group D, level in points with the Czech Republic in second place, but also with a game in hand.
England, Scotland and Greece all have matches on Tuesday.
