Arne Slot is set to experience his first Manchester United match as Liverpool head to Old Trafford for the third game of the season.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS. LIVERPOOL

| Sunday, September 1st |
Premier League | Old Trafford

Arne Slot has started his Liverpool career with two victories and two clean sheets, but faces his first big test when the Reds travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United. United haven’t looked particularly emphatic in their opening games. Their first game against Fulham at home was saved by an 87th minute goal from newcomer Joshua Zirkzee to pull off a 1-0 victory. The next week, they lost away 2-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion, this time giving away a goal deep into stoppage time to squander all three points.

Liverpool started the first half of their first game looking to be on the backfoot, but in the second half they pulled it together and won.

So far they’ve done what they’ve looked disciplined and well-trained in the way that Slot wants to play.

However, trips to Old Trafford are always tricky, and this one likely won’t be any different.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota

Liverpool continue to be fit and healthy as we start the new season. The only person out is Curtis Jones. Still, Slot is unlikely to stray much from the team that has won their first two matches.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are not so lucky. They’ll be without Mason Mount, Leny Yoro, Rasmus Hojlund, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, and Victor Lindelof.

What the Managers Had to Say

Arne Slot: “If you’re starting to work at Liverpool, everybody knows, every player that comes in knows and every manager that comes in knows how important the game against United is. It’s similar to when you work at Feyenoord, how big the game against Ajax is. People tell you, of course, but it’s not really necessary because if you follow the game of football, which I do for a long time, you know the importance of Liverpool against United or United against Liverpool.”

Erik ten Hag: “We are really looking forward to competing with them. We have a good squad, we can bring a good team out. We have to improve, we have new players to integrate. We are looking forward to this game.”
