Injury Update Ahead of Manchester United
The Reds still look thin in defense, even as the tide is changing
Though Joe Gomez has been confirmed to be out for a number of weeks with the hamstring issue that saw him substituted against West Ham United, there is some good news for Liverpool.
Ibrahima Konaté and Conor Bradley have both returned to team training today for the first time since November — though the Friday before a Sunday kick-off is probably too tight a timeline to see either start at Anfield.
Both Konaté and Bradley picked up their injuries against Real Madrid, and both featured in the domineering Liverpool side that seemed unstoppable in all competitions. Both will be pleased to be back to fight for minutes in the side.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was cautiously optimistic about the pair, looking to assess where their fitness levels are:
“Conor and Ibou will train with us today for the first time. So, [I am] curious and interested to see where they exactly are, of course. They have worked hard to come back to the team but the next step is always, ‘How do you handle team sessions?’ They will train with us today, the two of them.”
The rest of the team report no new illnesses or injuries, though Slot did point out that this is a season where illness crops up.
