“Not An Injury” - Quansah Substitution Due to Illness

The defender was thought to have recovered, but that turned out to be not the case.

Liverpool FC’s Jarell Quansah had to be substituted off at the 30th-minute mark during last night’s game against Tottenham Hotspur, immediately raising concerns of an injury crisis in the centre-back ranks.

Thankfully, head coach Arne Slot has cleared it up and attributed it to a flare-up of an illness the defender had been dealing with.

“Jarell didn’t feel really well. From the moment the game started until the moment we had to take him off, he felt a bit of pressure I think he said on his chest.

“I have to ask him exactly, but he said he didn’t feel well. It was not an injury. In the last few days he was a bit ill but we thought he was on his way back. Maybe that had something to do with it.”

With Joe Gomez already out with a hamstring injury, we may see Slot roll with more changes for the FA Cup tie against League Two side Accrington Stanley on Saturday. Wataru Endo and Amara Nallo at the heart of the defence sounds decent enough.
