Tha Japanese midfielder may be tempted by the prospect of more playing time.

According to a winter transfer window preview by Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, Fulham are interested in a transfer for Liverpool FC’s Wataru Endo.

The 31-year-old Japanese midfielder hasn’t been in head coach Arne Slot’s plans this season, mainly featuring only at the end of games and in Carabao Cup action.

Fulham are flying high this season by their standards and currently sit in 8th place, with a big victory over West London neighbours Chelsea most recently. Their summer saw Portuguese defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha move on to Bayern Munich. January signing Saša Lukić has taken over as the primary defensive midfielder this season, but the Cottagers seem keen on adding another option into the mix.

Liverpool rejected Marseille's £11.8m bid in the summer, so Fulham would probably have to better that bid.

In my opinion, the Reds would be better off sticking with Endo until the end of the season. For the player, he’ll probably add a few medals to his collection. For the club, Endo has already proven to be a reliable professional ready to step in and do whatever the coach asks of him, even playing centre-back if needed. Unless Zubimendi or [insert other defensive midfielder target’s name] is coming this window, Liverpool would probably be best served holding onto the Japanese captain until the summer.
