Rumour Mongering: Crystal Palace Interested in Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott
As badly as the 2025-26 season might have gone for Liverpool, it’s probably fair to say it went worse for Harvey Elliott as the 23-year-old headed to Aston Villa on loan with a mandatory £35M purchase option that backfired and led to Villa manager Unai Emery quickly benching the player to avoid paying it.
Having returned to Liverpool at the end of the season, the question now is what comes next for Elliott—and if new head coach Andoni Iraola will be more inclined to include him in his plans than the departed Arne Slot. If he isn’t, there will be another effort to find him a new home, and on that front there could be interest.
At least according to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace are keeping a close eye on Elliott. While the plan at Liverpool is to give him a pre season under Iraloa to prove his worth, if we get to August and he’s again seen as surplus to requirements by a Liverpool coach then Palace would certainly be a promising landing spot.
Of course, the same was said about Villa last year and that didn’t exactly end well, utterly wasting a year of Elliott’s development as the attacking midfielder nears his prime years. Hopefully, whether it’s with the reds or at Palace or with some other club, 2026-27 goes better for the boyhood Liverpool fan.
