Loan Watch: Two Loanees Debut, Awoniyi Scores Again
Several Liverpool loanees faced each other this week, in a matchweek highlighted by debuts for Jon Flanagan in the Championship and Lazar Markovic in Belgium, as well as yet another goal for Taiwo Awoniyi.
Allan Rodrigues de Souza, Apollon Limassol
Apollon Limassol’s regular season came to an end on Saturday, with a 4-1 win at Ethnikos Achna. Allan started, playing 90 minutes in his 15th league appearance of the season.
After finishing second, Apollon now move on to the Cypriot First Division’s second round Championship Round, where they will play each of the top six sides twice, in a battle for the league title.

Anderson Arroyo, RCD Mallorca
Anderson Arroyo made his third appearance for Mallorca B in their 1-0 win over Alcúdia.
Taiwo Awoniyi, Royal Excel Mouscron
Taiwo Awoniyi was back in the goals on Saturday, netting Royal Excel Mouscron’s first goal in a 5-3 defeat at Anderlecht.
The striker played 90 minutes, and now has eight goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.
Pedro Chirivella, Willem II
Pedro Chirivella also got another 90 minutes, starting his side’s crucial 1-0 home win over Roda JC. The three points lift Willem II six points clear of the Eredivisie relegation playoff spots.
Ovie Ejaria, Sunderland
Sunderland slipped to last place in the Championship on Tuesday, after suffering a 1-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers. Their winless run continued at the weekend, with a 3-3 home draw to Middlesbrough.
Ovie Ejaria missed both games with a thigh injury.
Andy Firth, Chester
Chester lost 1-0 to Leyton Orient on Tuesday, and 3-0 at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday. Andy Firth was an unused substitute in both games.
Jon Flanagan, Bolton Wanderers
Jon Flanagan did not emerge from the bench in his side’s 1-0 Tuesday win over Sunderland, but the full back finally made his Trotters debut on Saturday, coming on after 68 minutes in the 0-0 draw at Norwich. Flanagan was booked in injury time.

Marko Grujic, Cardiff City
Cardiff City continued their excellent recent form in midweek, beating Ipswich Town 1-0 away from home. Marko Grujic started, but came off at halftime.
Grujic dropped to the bench at the weekend, as Cardiff took on Ryan Kent’s Bristol City. The Bluebirds made it four wins and clean sheets in a row with a 1-0 win. Grujic was an unused substitute.
Ryan Kent, Bristol City
Ryan Kent and his Bristol City were also in midweek action, taking on Sheyi Ojo’s Fulham on Wednesday night. Kent started, was booked after 59 minutes, and came off after 80 in a 1-1 draw.
Kent also dropped to the bench for Bristol’s trip to Cardiff, coming on after 85 minutes in the 1-0 defeat.
Lazar Markovic, Anderlecht
Lazar Markovic joined Jon Flanagan in finally making his debut for his new club on Sunday, after he came off the bench after 71 minutes in Anderlecht’s 5-3 win against Taiwo Awoniyi’s Mouscron.
He will be hoping for his first start when Anderlecht travel to Zulte-Waregem next Saturday.
Sheyi Ojo, Fulham
After not being involved in Fulham’s 1-1 draw at Bristol City on Wednesday, Sheyi Ojo returned from an injury absence at the weekend to take a place on his side’s bench for the clash with league leaders Wolves.
Ojo came on after 64 minutes, helping the Cottagers to a 2-0 win.
Divock Origi, VfL Wolfsburg
Divock Origi got another start and 90 minutes in Wolfsburg’s trip to Mainz 05. The game finished 1-1.

Connor Randall, Hearts
Hearts suffered a 2-0 defeat at Rangers on Saturday. Connor Randall spent the duration of the game on the bench.
Daniel Sturridge, West Bromwich Albion
Injury kept Daniel Sturridge out of West Brom’s home clash against Huddersfield on Saturday.
A 2-1 defeat was WBA’s fifth straight loss since the January FA Cup win at Anfield, and leaves Albion seven points short of safety at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Matty Virtue, Notts County
Notts County suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at midtable side Cambridge United on Tuesday. Matty Virtue came off the bench in the 91st minute for a brief cameo appearance.
County returned to winning ways on Saturday, earning a 2-0 win against Stevenage. Virtue was an unused substitute.
Corey Whelan, Yeovil Town
Corey Whelan kept his place in the Yeovil first XI this weekend, starting as his side suffered a tough home loss to Carlisle, 1-0. Whelan played the whole game at right back.
Harry Wilson, Hull City
Hull City lost 3-1 at Middlesbrough on Tuesday, before securing a crucial 1-0 win over Sheffield United on Friday night.
A shoulder injury kept Harry Wilson out of both games, amid reports the Welsh winger is set to miss a month with ligament damage.
