Real Madrid Reportedly Interested In Lewandowski And Hazard Over Salah

“I’d cry if I were still at Chelsea, too.”

Throughout the late summer and fall, Guillem Balague proved to be the one voice of reason coming out of Spain, routinely giving an accurate assessment of the Philippe Coutinho transfer saga. Now, according to Balague, Real Madrid have (thankfully!) set their sights on players not named Mohamed Salah.

Instead, Ballague reports, Real Madrid are pursing Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

“Hazard is desperate to come and Lewandowski is desperate to come,” Balague said in an interview with Sky Sports.

“Salah is a difficult one because Real Madrid have no mention of him as a candidate to be a Galactico.

”You can think there is a market in Egypt and he is a star of the Premier League - he has a lot of things to go for him - but if they get Hazard they won’t need Salah.

“It seems like they wouldn’t put that much money into Salah.”

If true, this is obviously great news for Liverpool. Not only would it eliminate one of the few teams that could afford to bring in Salah, it would also weaken rival Chelsea to lose a talent such as Hazard.

It is also interesting that Balague mentions money here. Obviously it would take a massive bid to get Liverpool to sell. While some fans are still annoyed at FSG for selling Coutinho, the fact that the club would not be bullied in the summer could very well have served as a warning to other clubs this time around.
