Liverpool permitted to name 23-man squad for Champions League final

Liverpool will be allowed to include as many as 23 players in their matchday squad for the Champions League final, according to LiverpoolFC.com.

UEFA made alterations to the regulations for the 2018-19 season which now allow for teams to name up to 12 substitutes for the Champions League and Europa League finals, five more than previously allowed.

Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea will also be allowed to make a fourth substitution if their respective finals go to extra-time.

No doubt Jurgen Klopp has welcomed the changes, which grant him added flexibility should he wish to change tactics during the game or bring on fresh legs late on.

Liverpool play Tottenham in Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano on Saturday June 1.
