‘Attacking midfielder is Liverpool’s transfer priority’
Liverpool’s top priority in the summer transfer window is still to sign a “versatile attacking midfielder”, according to David Maddock of The Mirror.
The Reds had virtually tied up a deal for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir before walking away at the eleventh hour, concerned about a knee problem which had cropped up in the player’s medical.
Ostensibly, the club have withdrawn their interest, but sources in France have recently expressed their confidence that a deal could be resurrected.

No genuine alternative has emerged since the move for Fekir fell through. Hakim Ziyech’s name was frequently mentioned but Ajax confirmed at the end of last month that he will instead join Roma, while Liverpool moved quickly to quash rumours of interest in Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.
Talk of a swoop for Paulo Dybala, prompted by Cristiano Ronaldo’s proposed move to Juventus, remains fantastical for the moment.
Nonetheless, according to Maddock, Liverpool remain in the market for a more creative midfield presence, effectively replacing Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona in January.
Liverpool have ZERO interest in Croatia centre half Domagoj Vida, despite widespread reports in Turkey claiming bid has been lodged. Same applies to Villa's Jack Grealish. Priority in window remains versatile attacking midfielder #LFC

Fekir remains on World Cup duty with France, but progress on a revised deal could be made when he returns from Russia.
If Lyon are unwilling to renegotiate, Klopp may once again to choose to bid his time, or look at other names on his shortlist.
Defensive midfielder Fabinho remains Liverpool’s only signing this summer, but they are expected to step-up their transfer activity next week.
