Liverpool Investigating Incident Involving Wolves Player

The game had tensions running high, and Liverpool authorities are investigating an incident that occurred during the game.
It was a bad-tempered game all around this weekend, and the officiating (or lack thereof) definitely didn’t help. Liverpool had a goal correctly awarded to them by VAR, and Wolves had a goal taken away (also technically correct but definitely not in the spirit of the sport) by VAR in the first half. The second half featured referee Anthony Taylor doing everything in his power to hand the advantage to Wolves, which naturally led to a lot of irritation.
This doesn’t excuse any aggressive behaviour from either team, of course, and it’s absolutely correct that Liverpool investigate an alleged incident where Wolves defender Jonny Otto came into contact with a Liverpool ball boy while trying to retrieve the ball to continue with the game.
Otto made a large impact in the game, including his contribution to Wolves’ almost goal: he was ruled to be offside by a few millimetres and Pedro Neto’s equaliser was disallowed.
Liverpool released the following statement about the investigation: “The club is aware of the incident and will follow established protocols in terms of gathering the relevant information. While that process takes place we will be making no further comment.”
