Gini Wijnaldum targeted by his former manager
Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is reportedly being targeted by Turkish side Fenerbahce, who are managed by the Dutchman’s former boss Phillip Cocu.
Wijnaldum, a tireless worker who has bought into Jurgen Klopp’s philosophy, has made nearly 100 appearances for the Reds since joining from Newcastle ahead of the 2016/17 season.
However, he could find his game time restricted at Anfield this season, with the addition of Fabinho and Naby Keita dramatically increasing competition for places in the midfield three.
And according to A Spor, a Turkish outlet, Fenerbahce have sensed an opportunity, with the report suggesting Wijnaldum fears he will fall down the pecking order.

Newly-appointed manager Cocu has a good relationship with the 27-year-old, having handed him the captains’ armband when he was in charge at PSV.
Wijnaldum would still have the opportunity to play in the Champions League if he opts to make the move provided Fenerbahce can progress through the qualifiers.
It is unclear whether Liverpool would consider selling the player, who proved his versatility last season by slotting into a defensive midfield role when required and even playing as a centre-back on one occasion.
The Super Lig outfit are also near the front of the queue in the race to sign out-of-favour striker Daniel Sturridge, but are supposedly unwilling to meet Liverpool’s £15million valuation.
