Ragnar Klavan Talks About the First Day of Pre-Season

The defender is excited to be back with his teammates at Melwood.

Though with the World Cup, it felt we haven’t even had time to miss it yet, Liverpool are back in pre-season training with plenty of the players showing up at Melwood to be put through their paces.

Veteran Estonian international Ragnar Klavan is one of the players who reported into duty on Monday, and he spoke to the official site about his excitement for the new season to begin.

”It’s always nice, the first day back at Melwood, you see so many excited faces and everybody’s ready to rumble,” he said.

“You haven’t seen [your teammates] for four weeks and you see them and everybody’s well rested and ready to go. Last week, I think I was a little bit [down] because my vacation [was] ending. But the day you come back, you see those excited faces and everybody is ready to go and this is so cool. I think it’s [difficult] but it’s so important if you want to have a good season - this pre-season is needed.”

While Klavan has had several seasons to adjust to Klopp and the training staff, this is the first Liverpool pre-season for new boys Fabinho and Naby KeĂŻta.

Regarding his new teammates, Ragnar was positive, saying, “They seem like really good guys and they fit in no problem in this squad. It’s good.”

The squad will have this week to train before playing in their first friendly of the pre-season away at Chester Football Club. Though many key players will still be missing from the squad, it will be exciting to get a chance to see Fabinho and KeĂŻta and the rest back in action for the Reds.
