Danny Ings Given Late Chance of Securing Southampton Transfer
The surplus Liverpool striker could end up at St. Mary’s after all, but time is running out.
Danny Ings will not be moving to Crystal Palace today as the London club have brought in Jordan Ayew on loan, and that has led many covering Liverpool to suggest that Ings could remain at the club despite the player’s desire to move for playing time.
He might not end up stuck in the reserves at Anfield after all, though. This following a handful of reports that Southampton are still in negotiations with Liverpool, and while the two sides appear well apart in valuation on the player, a deal isn’t impossible.
Liverpool continue to hold out hope of securing a £20M deal for the 26-year-old striker, who has spent most of his time at the club on the injured list. Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp remain content to have him remain at the club if a sufficient offer doesn’t arrive.
That means that while the price may seem steep, if Southampton aren’t willing to meet it—or, unlike Crystal Palace, desperate enough with the transfer window into its final hours—he will remain at the club for the coming season.
