Goalkeeper Alisson will not change his style of play
New Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, for whom the Reds shelled out £65million in the summer, is determined to continue playing his natural dribbling game, according to the Echo.
The big Brazilian stopper showed great skill and confidence to chip the ball calmly over the onrushing Anthony Knockaert towards the end of the match against Brighton on Saturday, much to the delight of the Anfield crowd. And while the Reds’ keeper was almost caught out twice by Glenn Murray’s pressing, he remains undeterred in regard to his style of play.
“I try my best to help the team in the build-up,” Alisson said. “If sometimes there is a situation where there is dribbling, I do it carefully. It could be too risky, but it’s part of the game, we are a team that plays from the back with the ball on the ground.
“That’s part of the team’s characteristics. Mistakes may happen, but we work hard during the week to everything correctly during the matches.”

Alisson has looked every bit the exciting yet stable goalkeeper signing most Liverpool fans were hoping for this summer, and while he has been largely untested so far due to good defensive work by Virgil van Djik and Joe Gomez, his little flashes of brilliance have encouraged the Anfield faithful.
Our Number 13, however, is entirely focussed on his team’s performances and results
“Hopefully I will keep helping the team, it is a teamwork. I have my contribution, but I am not the main responsible for the clean sheets.
“If we do not concede we will be close to winning because our attack is really good. I’m very comfortable at the club in a great environment, with everybody pushing in the same direction to win.
“We’ve shown what we are capable of and hopefully we can keep on track. The Premier League is very tough and competitive.”
Manager Jurgen Klopp has been content with Alisson’s performances so far but highlighted the need for his teammates to make things easier for him by picking their passes wisely.
“I didn’t have kittens but of course there was a different heart-rate at that moment,” said Klopp of Alisson’s chip in the Brighton match.
“It was not for showing off. It was the right decision in that moment. Obviously nobody is really used to that and that’s why there was this surprise and then it was all good again.
“Too often in the second half we put him in a situation where we needed him in a similar situation by playing backpasses in the wrong moments, stuff like that, it made no sense.
“He is very confident and very good with the ball and that helps us massively, but he cannot be the main solution in the last 10 minutes. That makes no sense.”
Alisson and Liverpool may face a sterner test on Saturday when the Reds travel to Leicester, though the Foxes will be without the suspended Jamie Vardy.
