Earlier this week, reports in the press had Liverpool FC midfielder Stefan Bajcetic being linked to a move to EFL Championship clubs Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.

At the very least, Middlesbrough will not be Stefan’s destination. Per This is Anfield, there is no interest from Middlesbrough regarding a permanent transfer or a loan move for Bajcetic.

This rumour could have been pushed, as Middlesbrough are currently close to selling midfielder Hayden Hackney to Everton. However, replacing a key starter with a player who has missed an entire season is inherently a giant risk, so it doesn’t appear as if it’ll happen.

And of course, with Andoni Iraola taking over, the new head coach will presumably want to assess Bajcetic before making a decision on his status. Bajcetic will have his chance in preseason.

As the TIA article notes, Bajcetic will do so for the first time as a senior player, and should he be able to stay fit, he could possibly occupy one of the valuable homegrown player slots for the 2026/27 campaign. Other Academy players who are eligible are James McConnell, Luke Chambers, Kaide Gordon, Tommy Pilling and Isaac Mabaya.
