Jurgen Klopp wary of Brighton

Jurgen Klopp is wary of the threat that Brighton and Hove Albion could bring to Anfield this weekend, despite the strong start his own side have made.

The German was very complimentary of Chris Hughton and claimed the side he has put together are well organised, and it showed as Brighton did beat Manchester United last weekend 3-2.

“We can’t compare the last game of last season with this,” said Klopp.

“Brighton were safe and we had to fight for our lives [for CL qualification.]

“They are a really good team and I respect a lot what Chris is doing there, not just the Man United game.

“They’re very good, organised and on point. United had chances for a much better result but we are warned. We have to be 100%.

“There is a lot of positivity around here and I like that but we have to be awake and ready for work.

“It’s good, but we play a very good Brighton side with a very good result last week. It’s all how it should be. Our crowd will hopefully be on their toes to create a good atmosphere and we try to do that with the football we play. That’s what we want.”

Klopp has made it clear that Dejan Lovren is still unavailable, which therefore means Joe Gomez will keep his place in the side after an impressive start to the season.

“We will see if we make changes. It doesn’t make sense to stick to a team only because we won,” said Klopp.

“We have quality in the squad to make changes. That is possible of course. Dejan is coming closer but he is not really around team training. I am not sure what he is doing today.

“Dejan won’t be available for tomorrow’s game and the Leicester game. It would be nice to have him back after the international break.”
